Katanagatari

Sorry for the long wait, but Katanagatari is finally ready! Now you can watch the epic sword collecting in full HD!

Video:
x264 1920x1080p ~3Mbps
x264 1280x720p ~1.7Mbps

Track 1 - 2.0 Ch FLAC Japanese

[Mazui] - Edited to fix TL errors and typos

Before any of you complain... YES, the preview for Episode 6 probably lags on your computer. The only solution is to buy a new computer! It contains an INSANE amount of grain, and I will not be removing it.

Also, the file sizes are big because each episode is 45 minutes long.

this anime is cursed. Tried downloading Coalgirls 1080p, download speed would constantly drop out and cause all other downloading torrents to stop, then it would come back for a second and drop out again ect. Same with Coalgirls 720p, found out elysium did this show, 1080p torrent does the same thing. Trying 720p now,, wont hold my breath.
Tried multiple computers and torrent applications, all dont work.

as expected 720p torrent did the same thing.

Does anyone experience audio issues in episode 12 for the 1080p? Specifically at 26:56, 27:40, and 29:08? The rest of the episodes are good, but the audio would cut out for about second or two during those times.

Sorry, I didn't post this sooner but I was asleep when the download finished. I checked the file just now and the filesize is larger (so it's obvious it was successfully switched) but I'm still unable to open it in any program. I checked all other episodes just to make sure it wasn't something I was doing but all of them work perfectly fine except for number 4. Also fileserve is saying that the file is 1.34gb whereas the filesize when I finish the download is 1.44gb. I have no idea what might be happening.

p.s. there are 2 episode fives in the download folder on fileserve.

Any news?

# Heppy | 2011-05-02 18:15
Is anyone else having an issue with episode 4? I download off of fileserve multiple times incase of file corruption or the like but no matter what I do or which player I use (although my typical set up is mpc-hc) it won't even open the file. I can't even open it in any muxing programs to try and fix the issue. Is it somehow just me or has anyone else had this problem?

I'm referring to the 1080p version by the way.

# Ametatsu | 2011-05-02 18:16
It might be a fileserve issue.. i'll take a look into it and get back to you

Just noticed that I'm wrong about the "sooth" incident. Didn't know that was a word on its own. Weird choice anyway, as there are more common words for the same.

# nordlys | 2011-04-06 11:19
I've watched this release till episode 8 so far, and thanks for doing the show. Episode 6 seems to have a serious v2-warranting error though. The whole preview of episode 7 seems screwed up. It looks like it lags due to poor hardware, but I don't think that's the issue.

I also noted some other small errors in case you decide to do v2's of other episodes for whatever reason...

I recall an instance of "sooth" which should be "soothe", likely in episode 2. There was another obvious typo after the "sooth" episode, but before episode 6 (in episode 4, I think). I don't remember the details. In episode 2 (19:27), the true catch phrase is transcribed as "chesuto", while all latter occurrences (episode 5+) becomes "chest". Not sure which is more correct. "This is Akutou Bita, after all." (01:10) in episode 7 appeared a line too high for whatever reason. Easy to see due to letterbox. "Can't you see what a disgrace you look?" (26:48) makes no sense.

# Ametatsu | 2011-04-06 14:21
Read my full post before complaining about the preview in Episode 6... You're computer simply isn't good enough. Try using the DivX H.264 Decoder instead of ffdshow or CoreAVC. I have a Core i7 and it lags on everything but the DivX Decoder.

The reason for a line appearing higher than normal is because of an overlapping line that may appear before or after the line in question. Which is the case here.

The TL is not done by us, so please go complain to Mazui if there is something you don't like.

The only real issue you mentioned is the "Can't you see what a disgrace you look?" Although, its pretty easy to infer that a "like" was left out on accident. I'm not going to release a v2 because of one word that isn't even hard to infer.

# nordlys | 2011-04-06 14:45
Well, I assume you edited their script, so I just mentioned some of the issues I encountered. I'm watching your release after all, not Mazui's. I don't think of any of the issues in my last paragraph as real issues at all; not v2-warranting. I just mentioned them in case you found a reason for a v2. The line issue is due to the TL note, yes, but it should be circumventable (again, if there would be a reason for v2).

I'm sorry about the mistake. It's entirely on me. I thought the problems you'd mentioned pertained to episode 5 (preview for episode 6). That's quite an insane difference in processing power though, but I do prefer them to be as close to the source material as possible.

Again, thanks for the release. Please don't take any criticism negatively.

# Ametatsu | 2011-04-06 14:52
It okay, I'm not taking it negatively >.<

If you are thinking that the DivX H.264 will degrade video quality, that is not true. It is simply more efficient in processing the video.
0
# nordlys | 2011-04-06 15:30
Oh, no! I meant that I'd rather have a release that's closer to the source video than a heavily "hard-filtered" video for easier processing, even if I can't run it perfectly with my current setup.

Are you still working on the 720p? this show is too good not to have.

# Revenant | 2011-03-26 09:11
I will try to get it (720p) up on Monday (28.3.11), that is if I can get the encode queued up over night, as I am really busy at the moment.

Edit: Just started the queue, hopefully I can get the muxing etc. going tomorrow ~evening.

Edit2 : Q_Q I'm 7/12... but not at home for the week *uguu~

Appreciate your work on this series but is there an ETA on a 720p version? Are you going to encode that before or while you work on new series? Hope before as I plan to download your version.

Also, those sizes for your 1080p is pretty small considering most 1080p normal length videos from other groups are like the same size.

# Ametatsu | 2011-03-19 18:16
720p encoding is done by Revenant. When he finishes the encoding, 720p will be released, so I will be starting on the other projects

Okay ,i intend to download your copy and will comment more when i see it in action .I don't know why more groups haven't encoded the show yet. Also since you have done patches before will you see if your patcher will do a patch to add mazuis subs[with the original style kept]as a secondary track].thanks

# Ametatsu | 2011-03-19 00:53
Sorry =\ I don't intend to release a patch just to change styling. I chose that styling because I think it looks really good. I believe most people will also back me up on that as well. Not saying that Mazui's styling was bad.. I just changed it to give it our own feel to the release. If you really cannot stand my styling, feel free to edit it yourself. You don't have to rely on me to do it for you. Styling is incredibly easy to work with.

Okay , just for reference if i mux the mazui subs [which i already have] as second track to your release would they be in-sync .And i think it does look quite good , i just prefer balck outline on my subs as i find them easier to read;)

# Ametatsu | 2011-03-19 01:05
No, they will not be in sync. Mazui's subs were timed to a TV-Rip, so it will not match up to a BD-Rip. You will have to demux the subtitle files and just change the styling on my subs. Then remux it back in. There are countless tutorials on how to do this, so try google :)

Thanks, bit rate seems too low for 1080p and there's some blurring /jagged outlines on the screens but its still looking a lot nicer than Coalgirls from the sub styling [but please don't use colored subs everytime as they don't look right],etc. Is this going to be offered on bakabt ? .
+1
# Ametatsu | 2011-03-19 00:42
Bitrate is not too low. Most people these days have been brainwashed that 1080p bitrate needs to be higher than they do. There are so many factors that should be considered other than bitrate. Download a copy for yourself and judge the video quality.

BakaBT... I'm going to stop caring for that site. If other people want to offer our releases, then they can feel free to. We are also looking for an "official offerrer" staff position.

# aqxz | 2011-03-19 17:17
i hear you, those extra bitrate is just a waste of space. i'm hoping that the 720p will be smaller than coalgirls.

# Ametatsu | 2011-03-07 02:38
I don't recall seeing any typos in the script when I watched them, but I could be wrong...
If you know where typos are and want to point them out for me, I'll be glad to fix them.

Thanks for the tips, I just hid your comments, cause they were too long. Most of them were TL complaints that were actually are right in the first place. I correctly the grammar typos and the TL that were truly wrong.

# Raqool | 2011-03-06 23:09
So your doing this from the bds then and not raws, also what font styling are you using on the subs[Mazui's ?] .And please take the extra time & effort on the subs and encoding since its such an a uniquely styled show and very tricky to get perfect . I think 720p isn't really worth it either since the hdtv versions where very good quality already . Thanks
0
# Ametatsu | 2011-03-06 23:11
Yup, from the BDs. I'll post some screenshots in a bit demonstrating the styling. It looks pretty similar to Mazui's style.

# Ma15 | 2011-03-12 20:09
Just like every other BD Japan releases (maybe except for the new Gundam) the 720 will look exactly same as the 1080 fullscreened, ceteris paribus

# Spinarakk | 2011-03-06 21:15
It's good that you decided to pick this up, looking forward to your 720p release and hope it isnt too big.

Why do you need to translate it though? Aren't there already official lyrics out, plus hasn't Mazui already translated them to English in the first place?
0
# Ametatsu | 2011-03-06 21:18
Becuase there are no english official lyrics out, and Mazui's translations are great... except they had to make out the lyrics by ear, so they got alot of the lines wrong.

Even if I don't have to TL, I still have to K-Time, which takes up most of the time anyways
