Seitokai Yakuindomo

Written by
Seitokai Yakuindomo

If looking for some great comedy you are, found it you just did.
Might just be the funniest show ever created!

Video:
x264 1920x1080p ~4Mbps
x264 1280x720p ~2Mbps

Audio:
Track 1 - 2.0 Ch FLAC Japanese 48.0 KHz

RAW Source:
[DECAY]

Subtitles:
[Ryuumaru] Edited by Kristen

So, the ending to this song is by far the hardest song I've ever karaoke'd or translated. It seems like all current releases have some extremely mistranslated lyrics which made it even harder to reference off of. :(

Another thing about our release is that it includes some TL Notes that were originally commented out for some reason. However, it explains many slang terms that non-native speakers would not be familiar with.

Thanks to Ma15 for providing timed Scripts!

Note: Mislabeled CRC on Episode 13 of 720p release. The correct CRC is [624DBD5B]!

hi there
thanks for the wonderful release. the show was really funny and i'm looking forward for your new releases :)

maybe it's too late but the 4. episode (720p) has a glitch or something at 0:01 - 0:04. i don't know whether it's a encoding mistake or my pc isn't playing it right. i used the 4. episode on VLC, MKPlayer and MPC-HC 1.6.4.6052.
is there a solution how i can get rid of this glitch?

holy video corruption batman.. doubled checked my download with utorrent, but the 720P release is full of video corruptions (using mpc-hc 1.6.1.4130 with LAVFilters-0.49)

guess i should delete it and download the 1080P instead...

the video corruptions are only if nvidia cuda is enabled. the video are ok without hardware acceleration.

Yeah. CUVID is the culpit. VLC hw decoding also shows artifacts (does it ever work?).
Lav dxva2 (native) decoding works nicely though. All other software decoding also works without problems.

As reported by Jubo and Guy, there are video corruptions and artifacts in several episodes of the 720p releases (e.g. Ep08 1:43).

# Guy | 2011-11-22 22:42
Like Jubo, I'm getting video tearing for the 720p release for a couple of episodes.

A few things,

It was a close call, but I think seitokai is only 720p. But eh, your choice.

I thought the censored audio track was actually funnier. Tamashii's release includes both audios. Would you mind releasing a censored audio pack for this, possibly AAC done at say, 128kps or FLAC?

Also, I DECAY tends to under-bitrate things, like CRF21, which is very marginal. Zero-raws/youse i-raws/leopard- raws use higher bitrates.

# Ametatsu | 2011-03-01 00:26
Close calls = 1080p -> Read FAQ ("I swear your release is an upscale...")

IMO, DECAY is one of the best RAW providers, because they really know what they are doing in terms of getting the file size and quality ratio perfect. Not everything is about bitrate! Zero-Raws, uses high bitrates, but there are very few Zero-Raw releases that don't have any blocking or banding or audio issues. Yousei-raws uses INSANELY high settings, creating almost perfect 1:1 copies of the BD. We believe that releasing something with that much bloat is stupid and unreasonable to release (They do a great job of encoding, and know what they are doing. We respect them, but they just aren't suited for our needs). I have nothing against Leopard-Raws, though I've never been satisfied by them either, but they don't suck as much as Zero-Raws do.

My point is that you simply cannot judge a video simply on bitrate. Yes, its a big part, but the only way to judge a RAW is to see it in motion yourself.

As far as the censored track goes, I will not waste my time going out to find the censored tracks again. Unless, more people demand it.

did ep13 get a wrong crc on the 720p release?
0
# Ametatsu | 2011-02-04 14:24
Yes, i suppose it does. The correct CRC is [624DBD5B].

can i ask what type of edit did you do? More liberal or liberal?

# lonewolf | 2011-01-31 21:49
does ep 6 still have some special encoding so that graining doesn't make problems for older pc?
0
# Ametatsu | 2011-01-31 21:52
No, there is not sort of special encoding done on EP6. We won't take out the grain, because that is the way the show was designed to be. But, because of it, that episode alone does require much higher bitrates, and I can see how that may cause a problem for lower end PCs. If the 1080p version is too much to handle, then try the 720p.

Hi just wondering if the audio you used is the uncensored or censored one?
0
# Ma15 | 2011-01-27 06:49
The audio track that will be included will be the 'uncensored' track (assuming Ametatsu downloaded this one and using the included audio track) - but there are still some phrases (there is a blacklist) that cannot be said in anime (as well as other Japanese media), thus why some phrases are still censored, even in the so called uncensored track. The phrases that became uncensored were mainly euphemism, which I believe are the ones explained in the TL notes (I'm not 100% on this, since I haven't read the subs nor the notes - so don't quote me on this)

May i ask why you wennt with ryuumaaru instead of ayako. I found ayako to jeg more fun. Just like gg on baka to test.
+2
# Ametatsu | 2011-01-26 13:13
This one was an extremely hard choice. The main problem with ayako was the fact that it made the show feel really crude and ended up making many of the jokes less funny than it could have been. Jokes are funnier when the viewer has to think on it a little, and ryuu did this much better than ayako imo. Neither was perfect, but ryuu caught on to many of the jokes better than ayako as well. I have personally seen half of the show with ayako and switched to ryuu because I got really tired of many of ayako's translations. If I get enough requests, ill try to release ayako's subs as well, like I did with baka.
Anidb has a really great thread here that compares both in detail.

Since the script I gave you was from Coalgirls BD release, it has been modified (by Kristen) so that the subs include the translation of the uncensored words. Providing un-modified Ayako scripts for this release may result in mis-translation s

Am I not allowed to say that we chose a RAW source of better quality?
0
# saiivN | 2011-01-24 13:52
I thought this show was native 720p and that the 1080p was an upscale? Would you care to explain. As far as i know ryuumaaru claims its an upscale. Are they wrong?
0
# Ametatsu | 2011-01-24 15:07
I'm not 100% sure, but the Decay RAWs are extremely clear and looks exactly like native 1080p to me. Plus, other groups have released this show in 1080 as well. So, as far as I can see, ryuumaru seems to have been misinformed. Check out the screenshots on the comment above you to see for yourself.
