Welcome.... to the new Elysium Subs!

I'm sure you've all noticed that our site just got revamped with a new theme. We've been working long days and night to bring this final masterpeice to you. And I must say that we are quite proud of it XD. Please explore around and see all the changes we've made for yourself. As you can see, we still don't have a new logo yet, and the logo contest is still open! If you are interested, check it out here. And, of course, as a group dedicated to our fans, we really want to hear your opinions! There's a couple polls embedded in this post for you guys to answer, and please leave any comments about the new design as well! With that said... be ready for another surprise in one day!

I screwed up our poll system... so, these polls have now disappeared =T Oh well

Just fyi: I've been using Opera lately, and I go to all the portals and fan-sub sites. This is the only one that doesn't work with Opera -just keeps reloading and horizontally rolling over on itself instead of resizing to fit the screen. Firefox works, but slowly. You old homepage worked with both, and was much faster. I'll manage, but thought I would let you know in case others just gave up.

I'm not quite understanding this... I've done thorough testing on all functions of this site inside Opera and everything works the way it should. The only know issues is the radio buttons.

Yet.. I get complaints about this site not working under Opera all the time. If you guys could please send me screenshots on what's going wrong and I'll try to see what I can do.

Didn't want to vote and not comment.
It's pretty and well-designed. Takes a lot of effort to do styling (and a lot of tweaking/trial and error).
I personally find it too bright. Transparencies introduce the problem of things blending in with background or things being too opaque and blocking it. Seems you've considered this and dealt with it, but it's always tricky.

I don't like tiles for the project page. Lists are generally easier to browse. Might seem like full rows are too much space for individual entries, but the tiles are dense and the names are layered over the pictures, making them less prominent. Also, if I had to find a particular series, I couldn't even guess where it'd be.

Last thing is the scrolling marquee at the top, I think vertical is better. The horizontal movement keeps catching my eyes and then I follow it across. Maybe it's me, but I find it especially distracting.

I can't really say that the new layout is better than the old. Scrolling on every page feels sluggish. I guess the new background and having the status of every ongoing show on the project page is nice.

You should remove whatever is slowing down the site though. I don't know if it's the stupid animated banner (which should be removed regardless) or having the foreground scroll separately from the background while having everything semi-transparen t, but you should try to fix whatever it is.

I've always liked your home page layout and you guys put out fantastic releases. overall, I do like the website, but there's room for improvement. keep up the good work.

The reason for the site lagging on your computer is because of all the transparencies that are used. Sorry, I won't take it off... there's only 4% of users that report that the site is laggy at all.

And it really doesn't take much system resources to run this website, much less than running 720p or 1080p video...

Based on your polls, 3.8% + 3.8% + 6.3% = 13.9% reporting it's laggy. I'm assuming most people that visit the site have a computer that can handle 1080p easily (including mine) so to have that many lag reports seems pretty bad, especially since it's useless eye-candy causing the problem. Even doing something as simple as typing in this text box is laggy, but it's your site and you can do what you want with it.

If it's lagging THAT bad, i honestly think you need to optimize your browser a little more... turn off addons maybe? I've tested this site on a Celeron 1.8Ghz that can't even play 1080p video and it runs decent...

Odd... the vote buttons are non-responsive to clicking so I can't vote. (Browser: Opera, version 11.10)

Anyway, my verbal votes:
- no too slow. Cannot really tell how fast it is right since I have DLs and ULs going. But then again: since I have upload bandwidth saturated constantly, this is more a rule than an exception. Too bad there's too much variance when sharing to get consistent results. Anyway, I can't tell if it's slow or not, but it's not TOO slow.
- projects page is awesome. The array type layout saves vertical space so there's not much scrolling, yet allow an image that gives a rought idea of series's character designs. Good job.

Now, get back to the the kitchen encoding that 1080p K-On!! for me. Onegai nano desu. :3

Yeah, I forgot to mention, Opera user here. The combo boxes are unselectable.

Thanks for your subs guys, nice revamp, you might want to swap the search box with the Twitter one, looks better.

Actually after you vote one you need to refresh the page in order to vote the next pool.

Yeah, it's an issue I'm trying to work on. It seems that the scripts to skin the buttons only allow one button on the entire page to be selected at one time.

The combo-boxes are not selectable, so I can't really vote here.

The design is nice, however it's a matter of taste. However, the comments section is ugly, with that gray shades, and with white letters, it's not readable like it should. To sum up, I would select different colors for the comments.

Hmm, you're right. The comment color scheme could be improved a little. I'll see what I can do

How's this?

# papsi | 2011-05-17 17:43
What? I don't see a difference...

IMHO you should try the light colors that are used in the boxes on the right (like Elysium radio, Donate, QR Code, etc.). So a very light and transparent gray, or maybe a transparent white with a little greenish effect like the background could do the trick. :)

I like how you described exactly what it looks like now...
I'm guessing your browser is loading the cached CSS files rather than my updated ones. Try clearing your cache and reloading our site.

LOVE the new design! It is probably one my favorites I have seen yet!
